CANTON –New England Pro Am Hockey’s College Summer Hockey League played the eighth week of their season on Monday, August 12 at the Canton Ice House.

Bruins 5 vs. Vegas 6:

With the end of the season drawing nigh, Vegas (6-1-1) continues to distance themselves from the pack. Their most recent victim was the Bruins (2-6-0), whom they defeated 6-5 in Week 8.

Though their margin was a slim one, the Bruins did have one as they were in front of Vegas 2-1 at the halftime break. Upon their return to the ice, however, Vegas came back in a big way.

Five times they scored to put themselves in front. The Bruins tried to keep pace, scoring three of their own in the second, but it was not enough to take down the league’s top team.

Wentworth and Vegas teammates Brenden Lloyd (2G) and Joe O’Leary (1G, 1A) each had two points in the victorious effort. UMass Dartmouth’s John Elleworthy and St. Anselm’s John Femia each had two goals in the Bruins’ effort.

Sharks vs. Penguins :

In a battle for the middle of the standings, the Sharks (4-4-0) made a definitive statement when they pounded the Penguins (3-4-1) 10-4 in Week 8.

A tight game through one fell apart in the second half for the Pens. They trailed the Sharks by just one at 3-2, but the Sharks found their offensive stroke in the game’s latter half. They more than doubled their offensive output from the first with seven goals scored to just two for the Penguins as the Sharks coasted to their 10-4 victory.

Salem State’s Brandon Wolf had the biggest day of any of the Sharks, credited with four goals scored. Alex Wishes had a hat trick of his own in the victorious effort.

The Bridgewater State trio of Corey Woodward, Korey Howard and Steve Shiftman, as well as Stonehill College’s Mike Seaone were each credited with one of the Penguins goals.
