College League Update; Week 7.

CANTON –New England Pro Am Hockey’s College Summer Hockey League played their seventh week of the season on Monday, August 5 at the Canton Ice House.

Sharks 1 vs. Vegas 7:

Vegas (5-1-1) and the Sharks (4-3-0) had been running together at the top of the Summer League standings, but in Week 7 Vegas played their cards as the top team, posting a 7-1 victory.

After scoring a combined 26 goals in their previous two games combined, the Sharks offense went cold against Vegas, thwarted by netminder Alex Crone. They managed just one goal late in the first, and that coming when the Sharks were already trailing by three goals.

For Vegas, it was another fine performance. Three goals in the first and four more in the second half for their 7-1 victory, tied for their widest margin of victory of the season. Wentworth’s Brenden Lloyd doing the bulk of the damage, credited with three goals and an assist for Vegas.

Sean Colburt was credited with the lone Sharks score.

Bruins 7 vs. Penguins 6:

And the Bruins (1-6-1) are on the board.

They fended off their season of struggles and posted their first victory of the summer in Week 7, defeating the Penguins (3-3-1) by a score of 7-6.

It was a strong first half for the Bruins to pace the victory, as they took a 4-1 lead into the break. The Pens made a run at the game’s lead with five goals in the second half, but the Bruins still had three to score, staying just in front for the 7-6 victory.

Ryan Nolte had his biggest night of the season for the Bruins, credited with five of his team’s seven goals. His performance at the top of the game’s scoring list was equaled on the other side by Joe Olsen, who also posted a five-point contest with four goals and an assist.
