College League Update; Week 4.

CANTON – In its return to play, New England Pro Am Hockey’s College Summer Hockey League played their fourth week of the season on July 15 at the Canton Ice House.

Bruins 2 vs. Penguins 5:

The Penguins unbeaten streak in the College Summer League continues.

After a tie in their first game of league play, the Pens have won two straight following a 5-2 defeat of the struggling Bruins in Week 4.

Much of the contest’s scoring – five of its seven goals – came in the game’s first half. The Bruins broke the seal on a JD Dietrich goal at 9:30, but the Penguins then reeled off three straight, followed by another for the B’s for the Pens to take a 3-2 lead into the break.

Coming back to the ice for the second, Penguins netminder and Curry College product Justin Ketola kept the Bruins off the board, while the Penguins offense chipped in two more to solidify the 5-2 victory.

Joe Olson (2G, 1A) and Bridgewater State’s Howard Korey (1G, 2A) led the game in scoring for the Penguins, each contributing a three-point contest.

Sharks 2 vs. Vegas 6:

As New England Pro Am’s College League continued on Monday evening, the Vegas team continued to be unbeaten. After defeating the Sharks 6-2 in Week 4, they moved their record to 2-0-1 on the summer season.

Vegas reeled off three straight goals to start the contest against the Sharks and establish their cushion. The Wentworth trifecta of Andrew McDohough, Dante Flori and Joe O’Leary establishing the 3-0 advantage.

Salem States’ Alex Wishes stemmed the assault and got the Sharks on the board in the closing minutes before the halftime break, sending both teams to the locker room with the score at 3-1 Vegas.

Though the deficit was manageable for the Sharks, the score doubled for both sides in the second half. Three more for Vegas, one more for the Sharks to set the score at its final 6-2.

Flori was the game’s only multipoint scorer with a pair of goals in the contest while Alex Crone was credited with the win in net for Vegas.
